X15 CM2350 unable to connect to engine ECM with Cat Comm 3 adapter

2019 Peterbilt 389 with an X15, CM 2350 control.

Running Insite 8.9.0.130, and trying to connect with a genuine Canadian made Caterpillar Comm 3 adapter.

Getting the dreaded fault in insite saying the Comm adapter cannot communicate with the ECM. It is communicating from laptop to adapter, just not adapter to the ECM. I verified operation with Insite and the same comm adapter on an older truck (2013 Pete 337 with an ISC CM2250.) And everything works and connects perfectly fine. Any guidance here?
